Zujajat al-Masabih

Zujajat al-Masabih is the renowned five volume compendium of Hadith literature, authored by Muhaddith-e-Dakkan Abul Hasanat Syed Abdullah Shah Naqshbandi, popularly known as Hadrat Abdullah Shah Sahib, who was one of the most celebrated scholars of Islam from Hyderabad India. The Zujajah was Published from Hyderabad Deccan (India) in the 1960s and was acclaimed by Hanafi scholars throughout the World.

The book is very special in that it modeled exactly on the pattern and structure of Mishkat al-Masabih by Al-Tabrizi but is a treasure of Hanafi Hadith proofs.

The Mishkat has a leaning towards the Shafi'i school of thought while Sayyid Abdullah Shah Naqshbandi composed the Zujajah giving preference to Hanafi proofs.

The first volume is from The Book of Faith to the Book of Fasts. This has 2564 Hadith. The second volume starts from: ‘The excellence of the Holy Quran’ and ends with ‘The book of freeing (slaves), Chapter of oaths. This has 1255 Hadith. The third volume starts with The Book of retribution and ends with The Book of dreams. It has 1170 Hadith. The fourth volume starts with The Book of manners and ends with, ‘The book of trials. It has 1093 Hadith. The fifth volume starts with ‘The book of excellence of the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and this volume ends with ‘Excellence of this Ummah.’ It has 552 Hadith. The five volumes have a total of 6634 Hadith.

The book is being translated into Urdu with commentary as Nur-ul-Masabih by scholars of the renowned Jamia Nizamia of Hyderabad and is an ongoing task with the latest published volume being the sixteenth.

Abul Hasanaat Islamic Research Center, which is started by Mufti Syed Ziauddin Naqshbandi Qadri, Naib Shaykh Ul Fiqh, Jamia Nizamia, has a plan of uploading all the works of Hadhrat Muhaddith-e-Deccan on their website [[1]].
